We are believers
in food Research

CAFRI is a non-profit membership-based organization dedicated to improving the living standards of the average African through food security. We will achieve this by providing a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among its members and fostering growth within the food industry.

According to the UN, the African population is expected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050. For Africa to be positioned to feed itself and other parts of the world by that time without through environmentally friendly practices, there is a pressing need to accelerate targeted and collaborative research on indigenous African food products and promote demand-driven innovation in the food system. Think of CAFRI as the right platform to make this happen through:

Product Development

Alternative Sources

Consumer Behaviour

Sustainability

Beyond the farm  –
A Holistic Approach

Many interventions to improve the African Food system focus mainly on enhancing farming output and farmers while doing little or nothing for the post-farm components such as food product development, manufacturing, and other related areas.

However, if Africa is to successfully feed the 25% of the world population that would reside in it by 2050 and compete favourably in the global food market, we need a more comprehensive approach. The Centre for African Food Research and Innovation, CAFRI, is bridging this gap.

Key Area of focus?
